Welcome to Leisure Class/Stick-up Kids, a remix project using songs from my latest full-length effort, Cassette City. After toiling over the album for two years, it’s going to be a real breath of fresh air to hear how other artists recontextualize my music. I’ve asked an amazing group of bands, artists, and producers from the world of indie rock to contribute reworkings of five songs from Cassette City, and I’m opening up a sixth track, Daylight Into Me, to anyone with a hand-me-down guitar or broken drum machine.
I’m hoping Leisure Class/Stick-up Kids will be, if nothing else, a cool experiment in abandoning the traditional sounds and structure of hip-hop, and a chance to create music that’s decidedly ambitious. All of the remixes will be posted here, and the winning fan-submitted remix will be released as part of the Leisure Class/Stick-up Kids EP.
